HIMSS Electronic Health Record Vendors' Association

HIMSS EHRVA is a trade association of Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors that addresses national efforts to create interoperable EHRs in hospital and ambulatory care settings.

HIMSS EHRVA operates on the premise that the rapid, widespread adoption of EHRs will help improve the quality of patient care and the productivity of the healthcare system.

The primary mission of the association is to provide a forum for the EHR vendor community relative to standards development, the EHR certification process, interoperability, performance and quality measures, and other EHR issues that may become the subject of increasing government, insurance and physician association initiatives and requests.

Given the large number and variety of organizations that are becoming involved in EHR issues, having an EHR trade association is an effective way to provide undiluted input from a vendor community that offers significant experience and expertise.

The organizational framework of the association is designed to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws.

The association is a partner of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and operates as an organizational unit within HIMSS for vendors who are EHR software solution providers.

HIMSS EHRVA helps HIMSS establish its strategic direction and official positions on issues related to the EHR.
